ArtMapping N°002. Mapping Possible Futures
ArtMapping
2025

ArtMapping is a medium that transforms the act of exhibition-making into an autonomous artistic practice. Beyond simply grouping artworks according to curatorial logic or individually highlighting them, it creates a spatial and relational language in which artworks, viewers, and mediation unite into a single dynamic composition.

It involves carefully designing interactions between artworks and viewers, facilitated by a mediator whose active presence becomes essential in guiding perception, constructing meaning, and driving the dynamics of interaction.

Mapping Possible Futures

Protocol
How can we collectively represent the futures we imagine?
“Mapping Possible Futures” is an action where participants materialize their vision in the form of short texts.
Each participant is invited to answer a simple question:
What future would you like to see emerge?
The responses are immediately printed and displayed as wall-mounted prints, forming an evolving map of prospective thoughts.
Every day, new prints are added, altering the density and structure of the installation. The artwork fosters a collective reflection on the future, showcasing individual visions as a text in perpetual transformation.

An Interactive Process

1. A mediator questions each participant
The question asked is:
“Imagining a future. What is your vision of the future?”
The participant states their answer.
2. The mediator records the response and prints it
Each response is printed and given to the concerned participant. These wall-mounted prints are added to the exhibition space, gradually enriching the installation.
3. Evolution of the Installation
Every day, new visions of the future are added, modifying the structure of the artwork and forming a collective landscape in constant evolution.

Materials / Technical Support

The exhibition space is initialized with an initial series of prints, serving as a foundation for dialogue.
A mediation space allows visitors to contribute by responding to the questionnaire.
The collected responses are printed and displayed as mural prints.
Each new contribution enriches the structure of the installation, which evolves over time.

Implementation Process
– Initialization: The exhibition space opens with an initial series of prints, serving as a foundation for dialogue.
– Mediation: Conducted by a mediator guiding visitors through the process.
– Print formatting (A4, A3, or A2): Managed by the mediator using the open-source software provided by the artist.
– Each exchange is printed and given to the participant.
– A specific mention referencing the action will be added.
– The space evolves by recording the answers.
– Artist Participation: If the partner wishes, the artist may be involved in the action and project support.
