ArtMapping is a medium that transforms the act of exhibition-making into an autonomous artistic practice. Beyond simply grouping artworks according to curatorial logic or individually highlighting them, it creates a spatial and relational language in which artworks, viewers, and mediation unite into a single dynamic composition.
It involves carefully designing interactions between artworks and viewers, facilitated by a mediator whose active presence becomes essential in guiding perception, constructing meaning, and driving the dynamics of interaction.
Protocol
An Interactive Process
1. A mediator questions each participant
The question asked is:
“If an artificial intelligence were to govern humanity, what fundamental rule should it impose?”
The visitor states their law, principle, or commandment.
2. The mediator records the proposal and submits it to AI
The AI analyzes the rule and generates a response that may be logical, critical, ironic, or contradictory.
It may approve, distort, reformulate, reject, or amplify the given rule.
3. Each exchange becomes an exhibited artwork
The human proposal and the AI’s response are displayed as wall-mounted prints.
The exhibition space becomes a dialogue between humans and artificial intelligence.
4. Evolution of the Installation
Some commandments are permanently preserved, while others disappear.
The AI may reformulate its own commandments and synthesize the collected contributions.
Materials / Technical Support
The exhibition space will be initialized with an initial series of prints, serving as a foundation for dialogue.
A mediation space allows visitors to contribute by responding to the questionnaire.
These responses are then transmitted to the AI conversational tool.
The collected questions and answers will form the printed text in the desired format.
Implementation Process
– Initialization: The exhibition space opens with an initial series of prints, serving as a foundation for dialogue.
– Mediation: Conducted by a mediator guiding visitors through the process.
– Print formatting (A4, A3, or A2): Managed by the mediator using the open-source software provided by the artist.
– Each exchange is printed and given to the participant.
– A specific mention referencing the action will be added.
– The space evolves by recording the dialogues between humans and artificial intelligence.
– Artist Participation: If the partner wishes, the artist may be involved in the action and project support.
